Alain Kelder
Biography
I was born in Tallinn, Estonia — at the time still part of the Soviet Union. After Estonian independence, spent a year at University studying Philosophy, but left at 18 to study martial arts in Japan instead. This didn’t work out, and I ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area training and competing in kickboxing.
Despite some early success decided against a career in sports, shifted to studying international relations and econ in the USA. While juggling part-time school and full-time work, got hooked on computers, and landed an entry-level IT job with an IT certification. From there worked at several companies, did some consulting to fund my own startup, then in 2008 found myself at Stanford Law School implementing virtualization infrastructure as a consultant, and never left — loving the work, the people, and the mission.
When not solving technical problems, I enjoy exploring the world with a camera and a bicycle.
