About RegTrax

About

The global deployment of blockchain technologies could dramatically change the way the world’s legal, financial, and even social systems work.

Yet despite this potential sea change, most governments have been slow to engage in a meaningful way. This collectively cautious approach of policymakers has contributed to a broad sense of uncertainty amongst companies, attorneys, and investors in the blockchain space. In the absence of any significant movement towards a comprehensive, integrated regulatory framework on the horizon there are few that believe this state of uncertainty will change anytime soon.

In light of this, the Stanford CodeX Blockchain Group launched the RegTrax initiative with the goal of collecting, tracking, and disseminating regulatory developments from around the globe. Using a network of expert Curators to fact-check regulatory data gathered by our volunteer Contributors, the goal of RegTrax is to create a comprehensive repository of the current formal and developing regulatory landscape, while archiving out-of-date regulation for retrospective analysis.

Our database is still in progress and should not be relied upon for accuracy at this time (last update: April 2021), but it’s coming along and will be updated regularly.

Curators

Curators act as the managing editors of the RegTrax repository. These Curators are recognized experts in their jurisdictions, and oversee the information that's being added to ensure accuracy. They are charged with reviewing the research done by our network of contributors (as well as any regulations offered from the public), and ensuring the accuracy of the regulation, source, and conclusions.

We are grateful to have such an esteemed group of scholars and thought leaders as part of the RegTrax project:

About RegTrax 14

Contributors

RegTrax depends heavily on a network of attorneys, academics, and blockchain professionals to help us stay abreast of the latest developments in each jurisdiction. These valuable Contributors volunteer their time to research jurisdictions, gain an intimate familiarity with the relevant regulatory structures, and stay on top of any new regulatory developments that arise. They not only collect enacted legislation and published regulations, but also case law, regulatory guidance, and official statements that offer insights into the current best practices in each jurisdiction.
