In 2019, the Peruvian government amended its Constitution to create the Junta Nacional de Justicia (“JNJ”), a new independent body charged with the vetting of new and sitting judges.  The Peruvian legislature also passed a law that specified what criteria the JNJ was required to consider in conducting the selection, vetting, and removal of judges.
