Erin Lane is a Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Office of Afghanistan and Pakistan. She manages INL Afghanistan’s legal education programs. In this role, Erin works with public and private universities in Afghanistan, American law schools, and international legal professionals to promote the pedagogical development of Afghan law faculties and to help improve the quality of Afghanistan’s legal education. Erin previously managed Afghanistan’s largest and longest-running rule of law program, the Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP). She also successfully designed and launched an innovative nationwide continuing legal education program in Afghanistan, named the Justice Training Transition Program (JTTP). Erin has served six temporary duty assignments to Afghanistan. She is a 2011 Presidential Management Fellow and has served a six month rotation at the Department of Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis and a five month rotation as INL Director in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Erin received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 2011, her M.A. in Transnational Criminal Justice from Loyola University Chicago in 2007, her B.S. in International Studies and B.A. in Criminal Justice from Loyola University Chicago in 2006.
