Kenya Judicial Reform

In 2010, Kenya adopted a new constitution through a national referendum. This new constitution attempted to protect the independence of the judiciary, by limiting  the power of the President and granting more power to the Judicial Service Commission in the areas of salaries, appointments, and removals. Additionally the reforms allowed members of the public to request judicial investigations. Subsequent legislative reforms structured Parliament’s judicial vetting process.
