Law School Admissions Council Webinar
On August 31, Jenny Martinez, Stanford Law School Dean and Richard E. Lang Professor of Law, joined Kellye Testy, president and CEO of the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) and iLaw President Ken Randall for an episode of LSAC’s podcast “Live with Kellye & Ken.” The one-hour interview covered several topics including the role of law and legal education during the current, complex time. Martinez provided insight as to why this is a very good time to go to law school and talked about how the legal professor has a special role to play amid society’s current challenges. Martinez also took part in a Q&A with the podcast audience of current college students and others interested in going to law school.
Hispanic National Bar Foundation’s 2020 Academic Leadership Award
This summer, Jenny Martinez, Stanford Law School Dean and Richard E. Lang Professor of Law, received the Hispanic National Bar Foundation’s (HNBF) 2020 Academic Leadership Award. The HNBF leadership awards acknowledge the outstanding achievements and contributions of Latinos in the legal profession whose contributions exemplify the values of the HNBF including the advancement of education, diversity, equality, empowerment and access.
The award was presented to Martinez during the HNBF’s virtual Future Latino Leaders Summer Law Institute that took place July 14-16, 2020. The program was designed to inspire students to pursue careers in law and provided an opportunity for the sixty high school attendees from across the country to engage with Latinx leaders in academic, corporate and judicial roles. During her acceptance of the award and a Q&A with students, Martinez talked about her experiences in law school and practicing law and the importance of the rule of law in civil society.
